Second edition

First published in 1963, An Anthology of Chance Operations is the first collective publication by artists who would go on to become part of Fluxus, at the invitation of experimental musician La Monte Young. This work celebrates the dynamics of chance, experimental music and the concepts of non-determination. Fluxus is an international and multidisciplinary artistic movement that primarily advocates a mischievous and rebellious mindset inspired by Dada. These artists hope to challenge the figure of the solitary artist and his or her ‘genius’..

Works by George Brecht, Claus Bremer, Earle Brown, Joseph Byrd, John Cage, David Degener, Walter de Maria, Ding Dong, Henry Flynt, Simone Forti, Dick Higgins, Toshi Ichiyanagi, Terry Jennings Dennis, Ray Johnson, Jackson Mac Low, Richard Maxfield, Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, Terry Riley, Diter Rot (Dieter Roth), Malka Safro, James Waring, Emmett Williams, Christian Wolff and La Monte Young.
